Boulder Ideations

Some designs for boulders of various sorts.  I’m trying some different themes with them, from random hunks of scree to ancient polished carvings, to some things in between.   I was thinking that The Salvage’s terrain could use boulders for more visual variety, as well as obstacles to deal with.  Whether or not they would be indestructible I think would be best left until they can be prototyped and played with, but I think having some cumbersome objects than cannot be conveniently dug through or blasted apart would add to puzzle nature of The Salvage.

As you can see, I re-coloured a couple of the designs with a simple palette-swap.  I like the results for such a cheap technique.

  1. The Gfx rocks !

    ok ok … :))

    • Thanks! I’ve got a few more ideas in the pipeline, but it’s been slowed by this dreadful cold I’ve had… Stay posted. 🙂

  2. Hey there! Saw you found my blog, just started checking out your work, it’s fantastic! Salvage is right up my alley, can’t wait to see more. Best of luck!

  3. Wow, thanks Derek! I think ‘c’ looks really intriguing and carefully balanced. There’s a real need for quality indie science fiction in my opinion so seeing your trailer raised my spirits.

On a spaceship note, I’ve got a couple nuclear pulse ships in my (outdated) portfolio, I think you might like them:

    Cheers!

    • Love the designs, an excellent visualization of amazing but very real scientific possibilities. Ships like this need to be built sometime if our species is going to survive & develop. I’m looking forward to the day that this sort of thing leaps out of science fiction and into history, even if none of us are around to see it.

Glad you liked my trailer, right now I’m just taking my time tweaking c, doing some re-writes and building up a lot of more stuff from scratch– I want to make sure the finished product has a lot more to offer than just what’s in the trailer. I’ll keep you posted!
